Default fixed my cdl and went offroad

I found myself with a couple weeks off. very busy with my new home purchase...and a couple buddys that I havent seen in a long time wanted to go off roading...

So I and bit the bullet and pulled my center console and found the that the center shaft of the cdl shifter was seized on the lefthand side.

I found a good working one from a local wrecker for $40.

I greased it installed it and walla.....she works, its smooth and good shifting action. Big thanks to Danny Lee for his detailed pics...I had my laptop in the truck with your pics and posts guiding me the whole way!

what a machine offroad. the cdl was the difference in my disco not being stuck. this time of year after winter there is all kinds of muck and mud and water. We also got some rock climbing in...minor stuff though. I'm still trying to get footage from my friends...I managed to get one vid. Its of a bog that had clay and water together...the river that runs beside was spilling into it alittle....and other truck that had been through it had gotten stuck and made some deep ruts......so speed and throttle was needed so that she wouldnt get stuck....ill post more pics and vids as I get them

That is the best FEEDBACK I have had yet!!! Most people just get pissy about my Redneck comments or they don't have the intellect to truly APPRECIATE my efforts like when I attempted to get us a group Discount Rate at AB since they were using our forum to promote their business but i was sincerely disappointed in their pissy response............

I had mine off-road with a stuck CDL, no fun at all. Learned the CDL in detail from a caring LR buddy and tore mine down until it worked properly. I agree the difference is amazing.

I saw a few real horror stories regarding attempted fixes where people for what ever stupid reason did not want to pull their console out.

Fun ain't they when they function correctly.

There you go getting pissy again...

instg8r, that's a great use of the forum! It's great when people take the time to document crappy jobs like the CDL pics Danny took.

Another simple piece of advice for crossing muddy stuff, get enough momentum up before you hit the bad stuff, then you can basically use a combination of great traction and momentum, do not ease in, get it stuck bad and damage it trying to get it moving again. Just hit it steady but do not overdo it either. There are some great videos on You Tube about that very thing.

yes the combo of danny lee's pics and the rave manual was great.

I would have never attempted it with the console in. The console only took 10 mins to remove.

I will post pics of the cdl when I can....I wanted to take my time and take pics and make a detailed post....but I was under the gun with very little free time to get the cdl work before heading to the middle of no where.

one truck was stuck in that spot for 1 and a half hours.....they were digging it out with shovels...etc etc....I was loving my disco....

it was like a tank.....
