Default Footwell / Access Box

So the underseat storage area of my Disco was missing when I bought it. Today I went about fabricating replacement panels. All I had to work with was 1/8" aluminum sheet so I couldn't weld it and had to rivet instead. It didn't turn out as well as I hoped, but it sure is stronger than the factory plastic one. The plan is to mount my CB within the box and maybe some more electronics/gear. Getting the panels to fit well took a majority of the time, that said, I spent around 6 hours doing one side. The second box would only take an hourish to complete (just trace panels). I've left the panels as polished alum. sheet. Does anyone have an opinion on this? Otherwise I would use bed liner to texture and sound proof and then spray paint it to match my interior.

Good alternative, those things are boogers. Factory ones are very thin and brittle.

Looks good, but do you want your radio (that you use to call for help) in a place where water can get in (assumes you might go "wading")?

I agree with S Buzz. I would mount it up high rather than under the seat. When I bought mine the CD player under the Pass seat was fried due to water exposure.

Stupid place to mount any electrical. I do not like the fuses and such mounted under the driver's seat. Am considering relocating them. How's your headliner? I yanked mine out. There's plenty of room overhead to mount a CB whewre it is nice and dry.

I didn't think about that... Here in Ks its hard to find any decent deep water for wading though. I'll have to relocate once I get out of Ks for wheeling. Thanks for the input

I didn't even know there was a cubbie under the driver seat. Mines been missing since I got it. Removed the passenger one to match.

I have them in my Audi and every time I use them, I end up forgetting I put something in there and find it weeks/months later. LOL
