So did I miss something then? Cause sounds more like you did not let it run long enough with all new parts in there to heat up, move out the assembly lube

Did it run fine just tapping or what?

Well, I bolted the pick up tube and pan back up, filled with oil, and now she runs great with no tapping. I'm glad I was hesitant about running it too much because otherwise I wouldn't have found the loss pick up tube. It's running great now with no tapping

Also, I fixed my high idle. I reset my throttle disc to 90° to bore which brought it down to 15% TP and 1050 idle rpm. With a little driving it corrected itself to 12% TP and 675 rpm.

Thank you to everyone for your help and advice, it is much appreciated. Being able to drive Rover for the first time in 3 years was awesome!

Only problem now is a squeaky pulley and horrible brakes. I can push the pedal to the floor and it slowly stops and won't lock up the brakes. The anti lock light is on in the cluster. So I will be researching that and bleeding the ABS via the hill decent method tomorrow. All components of the brake system were removed at some point, then the MC and calipers were bleed per the RAVE. Hopefully tomorrow's work will fix it...

Oil pick up tube was found lose (finger right) and without gasket. Will be reinstalling pick up and pan today and rechecking oil pressure. Hopefully it will help the lifters as well. Hoping to avoid pulling rocker assembly for inspection.
Glad to hear running good.

What are your OP readings now with tube gasket and tightening?

Only went up to 31-32 psi... After that I disconnected the sensor and put the safety sensor back in because, I only screwed it in temporarily and it was starting to leak.

I'm buying the sandwich adapter and a quality sensor next week.

i would have though it would have been more psi, as long as it doesn't sound like a cement mixer any more is the big thing

OK so your issue was a loose oil pickup on a new engine?
