Default Front doors won't open from the inside

Both of my front doors won't open from the inside and my driver seat is sagging... The dealer says the doors are an easy fix, $142 per hour, 90 min job each side, $22 part, there has got to be a easier and cheaper way. The driver seat seems easy enough, whatever was supporting it gave way. And, she is a 1994 Land Rover Discovery. Any push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Could be as easy as an actuator. Pulling the door panel is a 10 minute job - then see whats broke!
RAVE is in my sig - easy!

Hello,

I have something similar on my Disco - I haven't specifically tried to figure out the problem - but - for my situation - the issue seems to be related to the locks, I have to push the locks down and then pull them up (manually), and then the doors will open. Is this a similar situation for you? You don't mention many details regarding the door issue you're experiencing.

As for the seats - Here's "DIY Seats" link - duct tape at it's best...

In Peace and Agape,
Trav...

When you pop the door panels make SURE you are isolating the retaining clips. They're set into your 18 yer old foam backed door panels. So if you're not pulling on the clip itself, that little S.o.b. is gonna rip right out of your door panel and leave you with one that can't be fixed back to the door.
So yeah, pop the dor panel, takes like, four minutes, then just lock and unlock the door until you figure out what is or isn't working, then replace it. And when yo do it, tell the dealership to go jam themselves.

142$/hr yeesh. you can get lawyers for cheaper than that.

This is why your door will not open from the inside, these springs get weak with age.
The springs ARE door specific!!!
The left doors use the same spring, the right doors use a different spring but they both use the same one.

Ok, thanks guys, fixed my seat issue with some strapping I found at Home Depot for $7, better than new and to clarify on the door issues, I can open from the outside for both front doors, the front passenger aftre like 3 pulls, the driver well, I have to roll the window down for that... I will look into the springs and hopefully its something I can do myself.

Land Rover Discovery Door Lock Repair Spring 5 door set | eBay
I'm guessing it is the spring as well. My rear hatch wouldn't open from the outside, and you had to lift the lock and open at the same time from the inside. I pulled the mechanism out and sure enough the 1 little spring (there was 2 in the rear door mechanism) was totally worn out and broken. Bought a replacement from the ebay seller listed above (took 8 days) and put it in, good as new.

My only other recommendations: buy the complete set (save money & time for when the next spring goes) and have some graphite lubricant or door lock spray to lubricate everything while you are in there. Good luck, I took pictures before/during disassembly to make sure I could put it back together properly, but it was fairly logical and straight forward.
