Default Front timing cover

Should I place the new gasket onto the block, then bead Ultra Blue gasket maker onto the gasket itself?
After that how should I oil up the timing chain and "oil pump"? While I was using carb cleaner to clean surfaces, I got some on the timing chain. Not very much at all, but I am just wondering if I should oil it up.
Next, I imagine that I could follow Rave manual for front cover tightening instructions.
Detailed (dumbed down) advice would be kindly received.
I've got a smart phone, if pics are needed

Thin bead of rtV ultra black on gasket

Pack the oil pump with vasoline,

Pull plugs and fuel pump fuse crank engine 20 seconds at a time? Till oil light goes out

Reinstall plugs and pump fuse , timing chain will get lubed or just put oil on it

Pack the pump with a thick lubricant. I use Lubriplate No. 105 Motor Assembly Grease.
You can smear a bit on the timing chain and you'll be fine.

Default Thanks

Ok. I'll hit up lordco tonight and get VASOLINE (lol) and the black gasket stuff. I've got the heads off, because this began as a head gasket job. I'll figure out the plugs thing later, as I rebuild up that way.
I'll post as things progress. Keep the tips coming guys.

I just remembered that I bought Lubriplate 105 a couple weeks back. I'll just use that. So can I use that Permate Ultra Blue multipurpose gasket maker for anything on this rebuild project? For example, can I use it when I replace the oil pan? Or should I stick to the black rtv?

Vaseline works fine, done it a few times myself when rebuilt engine wouldnt prime the pump.
Mind you this was in 3.5's with the external pump not the 3.9/4.0 crank driven pump.
