Default Fuel Over flow

Went to fuel yesterday and noticed that there was no pressure release when I removed the cap - fueled up and right at the fill point fuel started to poor out of the filler - pump didn't shut off - what would cause this ? faulty pump handle or issue with filler tube etc. ?

Thanks

There is a hole in the tubing going down to the tank. This hole allows air to flow upward and into the nozzle of the gas pump. When air travels through this nozzle, pressure builds up which that keeps the nozzle open and engaged. If the airflow does not stop - as it is supposed to do, the gas keeps coming. To say it is clogged would mean that no air would flow. However, the nozzle would likely immediately shut off because there is no pressure flow building up.

That is the mechanics of the nozzle. Why yours does not shut off means something is askew - and I am betting you know that already.

Here's a simple video breakdown. If nothing more, you may be able to look at a few things knowing what is involved:

Before tearing into it, I’d try refuelling at a different location and see if the same thing happens. (In case it’s the pump and not your truck)

could be a bad pump nozzle, I'd start there.. try a different pump or station before getting to worried about it.
