Default Fuel overflowing / stopping when filling - want to blow air back up fuel line

I have been having an on and off again issue with my fuel filling whereby fills insanely, ****s off repeatedly if the pressure isn’t just right, of over flows on my 1999 D1.

Before I look at dropping the tank and replacing the fuel hoses to the tank, I was aware that there is an old trick to use a compressor and blow back into the fuel line and clear any debris in the hoses with the fuel cap off.

My dumb question is which line in the picture comes from the tank? Could someone point to it with an arrow?

thank you

Nothing in this picture is related to the fuel lines - although you are close. Look immediately at the fire wall and you will see the two hoses coming from and going back to the fuel tank. They are metal and they attach to the fuel rail that wraps around the base of the plenum and are used for the fuel injectors.

No idea how filling up the tank would have anything to do with the fuel lines going to the engine. With the fuel tank, there is the pump, then fuel filter, then everything leads to the fuel rail. The backflow line goes back to the tank after being passed through the pressure relief valve (at the back of the fuel rail close to the ignition packs. Filling up the tank only involves filling up the tank. Then fuel gets pumped to the engine, and the two process are not connected to each other.

actually, on another look at your photo, I need to correct myself. At the very top of the right hand side picture is the fuel cutoff switch. If you are ever in an accident, the fuel is cut off to the engine to prevent fires. That is what that button is for. Just below that, on your photo, you can see a rusty bolt with a black bracket. They are holding your fuel lines.

I have no idea if the D1 is similar to the D2 in this regard, but if you search the D2 section “Very slow to refuel (intermittent)” you’ll find what worked for me.
