Default Fuel Pump Circuit

96 D1

I took out the alternator because it wasn't working..
Took it apart.. Cleaned it up a little and put it back on the truck.

Now it won't start... No power to fuel pump..\

The fuel pump relay seems to be picking and the fuse is good underneath the hood...

I've tried going thru the Rave but most of the stuff in doesn't make any sense..
Can somebody explain the fuel pump circuit to me ? I have no voltage at the pump.. The relay is picking. If I have the correct one.. Another misdirection by the rave.. If it's the the yellow one furthest from the green one on the bottom row.. . No voltage at the inertia switch either..

Somebody please just give me the plain english version of the circuit... From the fuse under the hood to ? to ? To the fuel pump..

Thanks

John

OK. I can jumper the purple/wht and white/pur at the relay and the fuel pump will run.. This is the big 3 relay pack under the hood...I've pulled that apart and the relay required to run the fuel pump is not picking...I can manually close it and the fuel pump runs..So, Something is inhibiting the relay.. Can anyone tell me what...
Considering the fact that I've had the battery disconnected.. It's possible that I've somehow triggered a safety circuit or imobilizer...

Help..

Possible back crank sensor not sending the proper signal to the ECU and the ECU won't then trigger the fuel pump relay.

The red light on the dash in the center of the steering wheel is not coming on at all..

It would go on and off with the key and door locks before..

Any Ideas ? I think somehow it's immobilized..
We're not getting to the point where the crank sensor would come into play..

Close the hood and all the doors, using the key lock and unlock the drivers door 3 times, this resets the alarm.
Now try and start it.

no go...

It seems to do something different every time..

The last time I locked and unlocked three times.. I got a flash of the park lights and two short beeps on the horn...

Still won't start...

But when I lock the doors now. The red led flashes fast then slow..When i unlock them it goes out completely..

The LED on the dash is only supposed to flash when the truck is locked, not when it is unlocked.
Have you tried resetting the inertia switch on the firewall?

Yes, as far as I can tell the inertia switch is ok..

Manually depressing the fuel pump relay causes the pump to run so I assume since the inertia switch is in between the relay and the pump that it is ok...

I tried using the generic EKA code 1515 and that didn't do anything...

I'm going to call Land Rover tomorrow and see if I can get the correct EKA code..

Anybody have a fob they can sell me ?

I also tried disconnecting the battery and putting the key in pos #2 and then re connecting the battery..

You need to get a multimeter so you can check it out better. There are a multitude of possible things that you may have. Pinched wires, connector pins unseated, corrosion on contacts, bad grounds, bad relay.

Look at the top of the page and click on the tab about TSB & recalls, you will see many useful things to know!

Thanks on the TSB point Danny, Today it started right up...
I guess whatever it was finally timed out...Or it's a bad security board.. I may go in and do a pre-emptive attack on that thing..
