Default Fuel pump control.

Wondering, if I take out the fuel pump fuse (under hood) could I then reconnect the battery and power up the rig for testing? I would also like to get the trans out of 'Park'.

Remember the entire top of my engine is off right now.

I just don't want to risk pumping fuel everywhere or damaging something electrical or computer-related. Thanks.

Another option would be to remove the access panel for the fuel pump in the rear cargo floor and disconnect the fuel pump there.

What is keeping it from Shifting out of Park? Oh the battery being disconnected I guess.

Any other power lines to be concerned about? You do not want it arcing and sparking!

Yeah, the shift-interlock business. Good idea on disconecting the pump at the source. I need to look around to really make sure there is nothing that could ground out...

There are lots of items that the power is always on, and the ground is applied to activate the thing. Kind of a backwards way to do electrical systems, but it is British after all.

They also use one fuse to power more than one circuit. I would study the Electrical Manual pretty closely in advance.

Another thing you can do is to leave the negative clamp loose and just set it in place when needed. If you should need to remove it in a hurry, you do not want to have to find a wrench and loosen the nut to remove it. If you see smoke or spark, ****** the cable off quickly.

If you need to move the vehicle slightly, just disconnect the linkage at the transmission and move the selector at the transmission. That is how I rolled my D2 out of the garage with battery removed. We had the engine ready to pull before we realised we couldn't get it high enough to clear the grill due to the hoist hitting the open garage door.

Just take a wire off the inertia switch, it is in series with fuel pump.

Pulling the pump fuse is fine. I do it every time I change the oil so I can crank it until I get oil pressure before starting it.
