Thanks Chris-bob, Any idea how I fault find with the ECU. Should I trace the wires from the relay? What else could tell the Ecu not to supply power. i.e. crankshaft sensor. Where do I get the RAVE from? is there a wiring diagram for the ECU? IF so how do I get my hands on it?

I put the RAVE in my signature. I could not find diagnostic info in the RAVE for the ECU. Maybe someone else knows where to find that info.

 

I have tried bridging the relays, and the fuel pump is definately working. I am still not able to start the vehicle. The problem strated when I was towing caravan, could the electrics of the van have shorted out the fuel system electrics? I have replaced the battery, but cannot find the earth for the ECU. What systems influence the fuel relays etc...

Forget fuel relays. Your starter isn't getting power. One way to check it is to run a hot and ground directly to the starter and see if it engages.

 

Hi All. Well, seems like I have put my foot in it. After spending nearly 4Days under the hood of my Disco, I decided to run through every fuse again. This time I went and purchased a continuity tester and BANG, the fuel injection fuse had popped. I could not see the hairline crak, but it was gone. I changed the fuse and she started after 2 turns.

I have a couple of other issues that I now need to work through.
1. My aircon and recirculation swithces on the dash do not ignite when the buttons are depressed.
2.I have to remove the cooling fan relay as they are permanently on - the aircon and recirculation switches do not work when I replace the relays.

Hi all thanks for the help, sorted the problem. I bought myself a continuity tester and decided to re-check all the fuses that looked good. Turns out the Fuel injection fuse has a hair line crack in it and was not conducting even though it looked spot!!! Lesson 1 for me always check the fuse with a meter. She started after 1 turn!!!

Yeah, a meter is best way, but if you don't have one handy, swapping a known good one in works also.
