Default Fuel Pump Terminal Wire Question

Hello LRF!
Q : How hard is it to replace the terminal wire that connects to the fuel pump?
I believe that it's what's causing my failed fuel gauge reading! I just replaced my fuel pump a month ago and it runs great except that sometimes, the gauge would give me false reading! Do I need to remove a lot of stuff to get to the cable itself?

ps
it's a 97 disco

Thanks
Erwin

When you replaced the fuel pump, did you look at the part of the assy that provides the measurement signal? I would refer to them as potentiometer coils. They are resistive element (I think), the higher or lower the float moves, the resistance changes based on the level. My old one was pretty dirty, I replaced the entire fuel Pump assembly due to the top plastic part being cracked.

That is one potential candidate as well as the wiring. You would have to crawl under with a flash light and chase that wire bundle which will be a real bear the way LR wire harness are made.
