Fuel Vent Hose Access w/o dropping the tank.
Hi Guys I know a bunch here have already done this, (no doubt way better than I did today,) but I thought I would share the measurements for cutting a 2nd access panel next to the fuel pump access in the rear load space. This gives clear and easy way to reach & replace your fuel tank vent hose when/ if it is crackly & spitting up when you try to fill up with gas.
Here goes. All I did was guess, so try to ignore the hole that is already butchered in these photos, k? (Do as I'm saying, not as I did, lol)
With the carpet and pad back and the existing access panel open, line a straight edge up horizontally with the inside of the 2 the lower screw holes. Draw a line extending out to the right 6-8" from the edge of the access panel.
Next use a straight edge to draw a 2nd line parallel to the first, using the inside of the center screw holes (like in the picture below)
Measure from the edge of the opening at the center screw hole 2.5 inches to the right... mark. Then from that mark another 4 inches to the right and mark.
Square up your lines and marks and you have the perfect size and placement ready to cut a new little opening to change out the vent hose.
* Someone who has experience with closing one of these up feel free to add that part here. I am running out of daylight.
