hi can anyone help? I have a 1992 disco 1 200, I was going up hill in third and tried to put it in forth but it would not go, so I put it in fifth but it was to much for it so I tried to change down but it was stuck in fifth and still is. need help. the thing is the gear stick moves as though it is in neutral.

Did you check the shifter linkages? Sounds like one may have come looss

 

Last time you checked the fluid level?

 

just wont to say thanks to CUpgt and TOM R for advice, it was a grub screw that had come loose on the selector shaft under the gear stick.
