Default Gearbox failure?

I'm new to the forum but need a little help. I purchased a 95 Disco with a blown head gasket. I ended up replacing the engine due to the block being cracked. However after replacing the engine the truck didn't want to move. I decided to replace the tranny and it still doesn't want to go in gear. When I first started it it went into gear and pulled but when I took it out of low range it doesn't pull. So I put it back into low and it doesn't pull anymore. So I removed the console and decided to remove the solenoid and nothing. I'm at a loss and any insight would be appreciated. The truck moved just fine before replacement of any components.

Sounds like maybe the linkage. I doubt the transfercase is bad, they're pretty bulletproof.

X2. I'd be retracing remove/install and really look at what you've done so far compared to the Rave and your memory. If you can touch things and they stop working you have a curse lemme tell ya.

Don't touch family, pets, friends, yourself......

Did you seat the torque converter fully before stabbing the transmission into the engine? If not you might have broken the ears off of the transmission oil pump.

jafir, I thought about that but I'm certain it seated. Would it have moved like it was supposed to? I tried the tranny before I completed bolted everything tight...i.e. only put 4 bolts in the tranny, no front prop shaft, only the rear driveshaft and no parking brakes installed. It was in low and it pulled like normal but like I said, when I put it in high is when it started. I've tried to go back into low but nothing happens. Looking down at the front of the gearbox I can see it wanting to turn when its in gear. I let it roll down the drive as it is on a slight incline and it took me 15 mins to go about 15 ft.

It's not going to move if both driveshafts are not connected, unless you lock the CDL...

Does anyone know where I can get an automatic transmission pump? I haven't checked the ears on mine but if needed I would like to have available. Thanks

Is there a repair for the ears on the pump or do I have to replace the pump?
