Default Gears

Gotta upgrade my gearing, I've got 33s on stock gearing and its tolerable but not all that great on the highway. I know theres a lot of choices for gear and all that but what would be the best ratio? Ive planned on 4:11s since i got the 33s but i just went on lucky 8s site and saw the 3:75s. would that be a better combo or should i just go 4:11s?

You should use this calculator to run the numbers.

I think you'll be disappointed with 3.75 gears. Whatever you get make sure the front is reverse cut.

The calculator will get you pretty close. Tires rarely actually measure what they're supposed to so it will be off a tad. I'm running 4.12 Ashcroft gears on 315/75/16 BFG KM2's and it's almost identical to stock RPM's.

I too was shopping gears...thought I needed 4:11. just got off the phone with gbr..........4.43 is what I ended up with...convincing conversation and helpful and looong worth the educated opinion

Interesting. What kind of RPM's will you be turning on the highway?

I shall find out, but was assured that it would not be crazy, if noticeable compared to 4:11.
all the extra ghetto fab bs, dual winch weight and 34s was the deciding factor.........
I too am interested to find out. my luck 10,000 rpms at 60mph

4.12 is a solid set up on 33s and 35s. My truck on 33s with Ashcroft 4.12s has plenty of pep for a Rover and does pretty good at highway speeds.

I haven't had a chance to be near a computer in a few days but I plan to borrow the girlfriends tonight. When you say 4:11s would give you a good amount of pep for a rover, wouldn't 4:43s be a little too much pep?
