Default Good All-Terrain Tires?

Hi Everyone!
I am new to this forum as I just purchased a 96 Discovery SE at auction for $450. It has 175k on it but it is running! I'm currently in the process of fixing it up and I need to get some new all-terrain tires. The current tires are P245/75/16 and I will stick with that size. Knowing the Disco weighs more than most SUV's and trucks, what brand tires have you found that work best, keeping price in mind as I have a lot of work to do on a limited budget!

Also, where is the best place to find parts?

Thanks,
Randy

Hey Randy, congrats on the great deal you got!!

Tires will vary by opinion. Personally I have had good luck with BF Goodrich All-Terrain TAs. I don't do any serious off-roading - - most of what I have to deal with is awful blizzards here in the Northeast. I'll be getting a set of Goodyear Duratracs this fall, as I've read some good reviews about them being excellent cold-weather and snow tires.

As far as parts go, I've bought things like spark plugs and Shell Rotella oil at AutoZone, but that's about all I'll use AutoZone for. For parts, you can't go wrong with Atlantic British, Rovah Farm, Rovers North, and Lucky8.

Depends what you want to do , I run trazano a/t tires E rated I do a lot of hi way driving but when we wheel it is 12 psi and rocks for me they are a great tire

Bfg a/t is fine if you want a fancy tire with a fancy price and don't wheel IMO , my experience with them is they puncture very easily wear prematurely and dry rot fast ymmv

Asked a guy I wheeled with last weekend how he liked them on his d2 said he would never buy them again so...

Now my brother in law thinks they are the greatest tire ever made but he has a 2wd Toyota pu that's never been off pavement so don't think his opinion is valid lol

I don't like BFG but I'd run the new KO2, it looks great and supposedly a LOT tougher. I run Cooper AT3s and I love them, but the sidewalls haven't held up to what I've put them through.

Thanks for all the input. Ended up going with the Cooper Discoverer RTX all-terrain as they were buy 3, get 1 free. I'll keep you updated on how they hold up.
