We broke down in New Mexico on the way back and called Darrell, described our problem and he diagnosed it for us over the phone on a Sunday afternoon.

Our monthly meeting is Tuesday the 29th (tomorrow) at Los Lupes in Addison, Starts around 6PM. Members bring their trucks and have been very helpful sharing everything they have learned over the years about Land Rovers.

Hope to see you there.

I joined the Texas Rovers club! I'm excited to be part of a club where everyone shares my same interest. I won't be able to make the meeting today, but I'll be sure to better plan for the next one. I got my Rover back from the shop on Monday, and it is running great. I'm slowly replacing small interior parts and trying to make it perfect. My headliner has fallen in a few places, has anyone had their headliner replaced or redone? I'm thinking of trying to fix it myself.

Headliner is a common and easy fix. Clearly a DIY project. Several write ups on this forum (use the search function).

Other than the write up, the best tip I can offer is not to pull the interior trim entirely away from the alpine windows if at all possible (just loosen). They are a real pain to get back in place. The backing should be sufficiently flexible to get the board out.

Glad it's working out for you. Joining a Land Rover Club is definitely a good move. Lots of combined experience, willing help, and usually a wealth of used parts, special tools, and all that stuff that a new owners needs. Especially if they have a facility and a lift.

And most have awesome Christmas Parties and various other outings, so be prepared for a big time.

In your other thread, you said they all went out and cranked up their CARS. I was wondering why the hell did they drive their cars to the meeting instead of their TRUCKS. A Discovery is a TRUCK, a farm truck, a pig wearing a dress, not a car. The car is what you should have for when the TRUCK won't start, or is up on jack stands being worked on.

I'm slowly replacing small interior parts and trying to make it perfect. Don't worry, you'll soon get over that inclination and just start removing what broke or no longer works. What are you going to do when it gets the first Trail Scar?

A lot of new owners start off wanting a perfect Discovery, then they realize the futility of doing that!

Hope you both enjoy a long time fun affair with your Discovery.

I paid the $1,471.00 and pick the truck up on Monday, and I plan on doing the rest over a couple of weeks. I just want your ideas, good idea or bad?

73a Replace left rear door window regulator, Labor: 180.00 Parts: 220.00...

I took the door panel off and realized that just the plastic window roller was broken into a million pieces, I ordered a metal one and fixed this for less then 30 bucks.

83a Perform additional tests and analysis to determine cause of air-flow restriction, Labor: 180.00...

I took the glove box out and noticed that the wire connecting the air control module had come off, very easy fix... Can't believe I almost paid $180 for them to do the same thing...

My truck is running great!

My feelings are that he already burned you severely on what he did as far as the thermostat and radiator issues.

I would never go back to him again.

I'm going through a lot of the same stuff with a '96 that I just bought, doing all of the work myself. My biggest suggestion would be stay away from OEM parts. If stuff is known to break regularly, why would you replace it with the exact same thing? Aftermarket all the way baby!
