So I'm driving along a surface street, and traffic in front of me suddenly comes to a stop. I step on the brakes hard, front end dives, but I stop with a few feet to spare from the SUV in front of me. Not so lucky in the back, because the car that was behind me rear-ended me.

My D1 has the 2" lift with OME springs and longer shocks, and only a hitch cover (I usually keep a hitch with receiver ball back there, for these exact circumstances, lol). From looking at the damage to the car that hit me, I'm guessing his front bumper went completely under my rear bumper, because all the damage was to the grill and hood on his car. Also, I'm guessing that's why his airbag didn't deploy, because his bumper didn't hit mine, just the grill and hood. I estimate he hit me doing 30-35 mph easy when I was stopped. I'm got symptoms of whiplash (sore neck, headaches, nausea, limited range of motion, etc), so I'll have to deal with that.

Damage to my truck was a broken hitch cover, some scrapes on the bumper cover, and some exposed wiring on the trailer light harness. Haven't taken it in yet to get an estimate, but I'm guessing even replacing the bumper cover and wiring harness won't be cheap. But hey, that's on him, not me, so get those sharp stubby Land Rover dealer service pencils handy!

 

You should try to work it where you can get an aftermarket rear bumper from Tactical Rovers or RTE as a replacement.
