Im trying to fix my father in laws 95 disco 1 with the 3.9 as a b-day present. It has been sitting for a couple years becuase of a loud pop and then a growling from the trans or t-case. He took it to a trans shop here in town and they tore it appart and just told him he needed a new trans and t-case. They didnt put it back together so now i have to diag and fix the problem. Is there any common problems with the trans or t-case on these? i took a quick look at it today and the output shaft of the trans is beveled on the splines but i cant tell if this is how they were machined from the factory or if this is all due to wear. Any help will be appritiated.
