Default Rebuilt transfer case and front diff.

What is the estimated cost for the parts to rebuild the transfer case and front diff. on a '96 Discovery? I found too much slack in the front driveshaft coming in and out of the transfer case and front diff. I plan on doing this myself either in my garage or my dad's diesel shop.

I would just start searching the forum and Atlantic British to price out the parts...

There is a sourse for parts list in the search sections. The cost of rebuild is always a question, have far is the rebuild going to go. You may want to look to see if it is less expensive to buy a used or reconditioned unit. Ebay has a transfere case in the rover parts section. that was as of two days ago. Once you have the vehicle where you want it to be, maintain it. A lot of the most common problems are DIY. If you don't have it already get the shop manual. Mine has paid for itself many times over. There is also an electrical shop manual you might want to consider. Sounds like you have the tools and some of the skills and a good place to work. Good luck with the project. Hope it helps. Gotta love a rover. duboff
