I removed that rat nest material from under my hood. It was so nasty and absolutely full of dust and black residue. I like the cleaned up white metal appearance much better.

And I miss those carbs too. Nothing like the pure kick of those extra barrels opening up.

I was just thinking of the old Beach Boys song Little GTO.

"Little GTO, really looking fine, 3 dueces and a four speed, with a 389............"

I used to really enjoy the 390 with a 4 barrel in my old ford. Those extra two barrels cutting in really gave it some get up and go.

Working at Audi and Volkswagen I am convinced they build the wire harnesses with some form of food in them. I have made a pretty penny fixing chewed wires from cars left long term at the airport.

Um, actually that was 'The Daytonas' wasn't it?

I've got a couple carbureted cars in my garage in various states of restoration that I move in/out when I need to work on other vehicles. So, I get a good education on giving them the ubiquitous 'one pump' before turning the key ...then feathering the pedal a little right after it starts to allow it to pick up on fast idle. Sort of reminds me of the 'dark side' of carbureted cars too. Truth be told they could benifit from a little fine tuning which I will do once I get them finished and back on the road.

I never even heard of the Daytonas, but I am pretty sure it was the Beach Boys with Brian Wilson singing lead in the mid sixties. I had a 64 Lemans, same body, with an aluminum 326 in it. The 64 GTO was the first year for the GTO which was a loaded Lemans with a 389. (Gas,Tires & Oil =GTO).
