Default Haven't tried to start in 4 months, now won't turn.

I'm finally getting around to swapping my water pump and fan clutch this weekend.

Haven't tried to start the truck since it was towed home in January.

Been connected to my daily driver for two hours now, and still won't do anything.

What are your first thoughts on the issue, and what should I do first? New battery? Mine is less than 2 years old.

Measure the battery voltage with a multimeter (should be >12.5v), and watch what that voltage does when somebody else turns the key to start.

Are you getting any lights when you open the door or hearing any noises when you turn the key?

Loose terminals that need to be clean and tight.

ummm... hope the alarm light is not on, indicating immobilization. Jumping a dead battery always raises the possibility that the alarm system will awaken, and decide that the royal coach is under attack by ruffians. Best to hold down hood switch before applying jumper power if truck was locked during time battery died. Or disconnect hood switch (steal my engine - pleaze!).

I'll run out and grab a wire brush this morning to clean them off. They don't look terrible, but could use some scrubbing.

Don't worry about testing the voltage while not running, all that will show is a surface charge not the battery capacity at the time.
Pull the old battery, charge/test and replace it and you will probably be fine.

Thanks Buzz. The truck hasn't been locked since Jan. We'll see if we wake the neighbors this morning.

Probably the smartest move.

By the way, does anyone have a link to the thread/write-up talking about flushing coolant with 5 gallons of distilled water?

I meant to save it, and now I can't find.

Nathan, if you want, send me your number and I'll call and walk you thru it.
Also, plan on installing a 180 soft spring t/stat and new coolant pressure cap at the same time.
