Damn i would have just thrown a resistor at it. In my experience 99% of the time its the resistor pack but thats with gm cars. I could be wrong here but i ran across a silverado ONCE that i pulled the fan speed selector **** off of and coated the contact points with a lead pencil and it fixed the problem, might be worth a try.

I would try spraying it down good with CRC Contact Cleaner or something of that sort. Might be a cheap fix.

Most of the time unfortunately you need a new blower. It happens with variable speed motors. My BMW has the same thing accept only 1 and 4 work so its either a little air or a lot of air. i think my LR only works on 1,2, and 4. It happens with older cars. Think about it you use that motor almost every single time you drive you car.

The contacts on the blower switch get dirty and old and worn out.
Usually the fix is a new HVAC panel.
I ahve yet to hear of a DI HVAC fan going bad, not to say it does not happen, I have yet to hear of it.

Default only 4 works

Hey guys,
So I read all the posts and I'm thinking that the problem I am having is related with the contacts on the blower. Basically my fan only comes on when I put it on 4. I can hear a clicking behind the glove box when I put it on any setting but no response from the fan... Any ideas guys?
Thank you
Lev

Bad HVAC fan speed switch.
You either need to pull it out of the dash and try and clean the contacts or replace the HVAC control unit.
