The difference is the emissions system, mid-97 and new has advanced evaporative loss control and before that does not.
Meaning the advanced EVAP does not vent the gas tank to the outside air, the pre advanced EVAP does.
The difference to you is the price of the fuel pump.
www.roversnorth.com

You are looking at $150 shipped or so.

after awhile i was getting sick of looking like a retard going 70 down the highway with his 4-ways on. i pulled over, turned the truck off, and it didnt stop blinking until i started it back up again.

would this be a product of that intertia switch or just a really old alarm system going completely nuts?
Yes, that was the inertia switch, it sets off the hazards and unlocks the doors, this makes you visible and lets you get out or rescuers in.

Watch this video and you can see them come on.

They are in the UK and the truck would not pass inspection, since its a '93 it costs more to repair it than they wanted to spend so they trashed it.
Watch all the videos, there are like 5, IT WILL NOT DIE!

Where in St. Johns are you? I might be making a quick drive to Chicago next Sun to help a friend buy a Suburban.

Step 1: Call AAA and get the premium membership it will pay off.
Step 2: Get it towed to your driveway.
Step 3: Buy an Airtex pump. Access pump by taking panel off under carpet. Pull the pump assembly and replace the pump only. Airtex at AutoZone is $88.00.
Step 4: Drive. $90 fix. It's not that hard I did it myself and I'm not a skilled mechanic.

Message me and I can walk you through it.

See I'm learning Mike!

Just a side note on AAA, they suck! Some insurance companies offer the same service for a lot cheaper. I waited 3 hours for them to contact a local tow company which never showed up. My friend towed it with his truck to my house and then later to the dealer. I'll never use AAA again. I had them for almost 20 years and the one and only time I needed to use them they failed miserably.
