Default Stalk switch failure

It seems LandRover was too cheap to do the job right. The stalk switch contacts fail routinely. There is too much current going by.
The smart thing is to rewire with 2 relays where the stalk switch controls the appropriate High/Low relays and the relay handles the current.
Easy for me to say because I know how to do it.... but really, it's not that hard

Do you think that's why I get that occasional flicker running through the forest at night? It happens every once in a while, but the volts and dash lights don't reflect a dip in power when the lights flicker.

Ok update
I just received the new stalk switch ... Perfect runs great every thing is working great thanks guys .
Ok so looking back on it the wife and I were out on a drive one night stopped for a bit then the low beams would not come on so we drove home with high beams this should have been a sign that it was going out.
Also I have a Haynes manual for the rover and it shows a relay. I now know that the the wiring diagram is in correct.
Once again thanks for all the great help every one .

Now you can repair your old one and have a spare(or sell it for big bucks on Ebay!).

Savannah, there's a wiring schematic for the DI?? Can you send me the link? I don't seem to be able get the one you embedded in your post to work. Thanks!!

Default Rebuild light stalk

Ok, I got a request to illustrate how to rebuild the light switch. This is my first attempt at a tutorial, so go easy on me.

Default Final page

Here is the final page.

Don't forget to re assemble and install!(probably didn't need to say that).

Talking Stalk

Thanks ! Maybe that should be a sticky or FAQ. It seems the same things go wrong with these trucks, eventually. Fortunately, they can be fixed !
