Default Help me diagnose this leak?

96D1-100K. It's oil, it's new and it appears to be at the connection of the hose and "oil expansion tank". ALSO I think unrelated, Oil is also now leaking at the gasket of the oil pan thanks to my local rover mechanic. We will try and tighten today. Local Rover mechanic just did timing/cover/oil change (amsoil). I'm really not sure what I'm looking at here as you might be able to tell.

That looks like its the oil separater either tube is loose in the valve cover or the hose is loose. The separater (little plastic piece inside tube) might be clogged not letting air flow freely.

And get rid of those old warn out factory plug wires, you will be surprised what a new set of 8mm silicone wires and plugs will do for your engine.

Oh Mike. I know. There's a lot I need to do. I have your list and will get to it all. I've been doing a lot.

Can you guys point me to the section in the rave that deals with that leak? I promise I gave it a shot.

Here's a link to what the oil separator should look like Oil Separator - Valve Cover | Land Rover Engine Parts at RoverParts.com

The list is not in the RAVE, it is in the tech sticky section of the Discovery 1 forum part of this forum, along with lots of other good stuff to know, that has been filtered of the obscure opinions frequently thrown out by myself and others.

SB...

Are you showing me the separator because you think I need a new one or just so I know when I see it.

I didn't mean list. I have a gilded copy. I meant "leak". Why can't I find the breakdown in the RAVE? Maybe the same reason I typed list.

Pull separator out carefully with needle nose pliers. Clean with solvent, re-install. If broken, replace. If clogged, oil can be forced out seals. This is in the top of the valve cover. In the olden days, this is what would have been called a crankcase breather. Became PCV valve in later cars, but this has no valve, just a baffled corkscrew of plastic.

I tightened up the hose (invention hose) and it slowed the leak to a droplet. I'm going to get the correct hose and do exactly as Savannah says. How I get to that separator...well now that's another issue.
