Default Help replacing the water pump

I just want to make sure I have everything I need before i start.

I have:
3 gallons Prestone pre-mixed anti-freeze (aluminum safe)
A radiator flush system (Prestone)
new water pump (from RovahFarm, OEM part)
new gasket
new thermostat
new thermostat gasket
32mm wrench
All remaining tools necessary
Printed all pages of the coolant section for the 4.0 V8 from RAVE

Question: Do I need RTV for either the pump or the thermostat housing as the RAVE says nothing about it and it has been about 10 years since I had to do either and I was young and not paying much attention back then? If I do need RTV which one? Thanks in advance.

Your viscous fan may be 36mm, mine is. I just did my water pump about 2 months ago. I used a gasket sealer called gaskgacinch. Applied to both sides of the gasket helps hold the gasket in place while you place the pump. Not really a rtv but more of a gasket helper. Works really well.

This is the stuff, you may be able to find it locally as well.

You will also need:
-patience
-beer or 2 wont hurt.

I got mine wednesday and put in. I did not use rtv on it, just the gasket that came with it. The fan hub is 36mm, not 32(although I used an adjustable wrench). The thermostat can use a felpro #12994(autozone, $.99), so no rtv there either. The only odd thing is there are three long bolts that as soon as you take them out, coolant will come pouring out the bolt holes. Them 3 bolts need sealed when reinstalled. I did end up using teflon plumbing pipe tape. Worked fine.

Thanks Kenk. I probably won't get to deal with mine until next week but wanted to make sure everything is up to snuff before I dive in. Thanks for the tips and the part number.

Oh yea, and like colodisco said, something to hold the gasket in place helps alot. I didn't have and gasket sealer/adhesive, so I used a small dab of grease in a few spots to hold it in place. It is an odd shape.
