Default hesitation and twitching under throttle

my 98 disco does a sort of twitching as Im driving along the highway and when I step on the gas. Its like it is miss firing or something. I can still drive it long and short distances, but you can definatley feel the twitching on the highway. All the plug wires seem fine.

I was wondering what would be causing this. Could it be a bad catalytic converter? I think I recall the cat causing this on a previous vehicle.

any thoughts?

Thanks

When was the last time new plugs and wires were installed?
That is the first place to start.

Also replace the fuel filter. What octane gas are you burning, when did you last run a good additive, lie BG 44K thru the tank and an induction cleaning?

put in new plugs, the previous ones were black. It no longer hesitates or twitches. I have new wires to put in when the engine cools, but I definatley notice a 70 less twitching. by the way, on my 98 disco at 127000 miles the plug wires say "lucus" or what ever, and I am guessing they are original. replacing them should allow me to move on to the next issue.

You bought plug wires for the wrong engine.
No big deal, that extra wire is for the coil to the distributor.
What plug wires did you buy?
