Default High Idle Help

Just replaced ECM and BCM due to immobilizer alarm with a matched set, the truck 96 DI now starts and runs but it now has a idle around 2000 rpms at start up and never lowers, how can I adjust it down, any ideas are welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Cool! It's the Idle Air Control, it's very common when swapping out ECU's. First see if you can put some slack in the throttle cable at the plenum, thumb screw on throttle cable. Might lower the idle just a touch that way. Second there is a way that kinda sometimes works to get the ECU to find out where the IAC's pintle is.

Turn the ignition on all the way without starting, let it sit for a few seconds.
Turn ignition off, unplug IAC from connector after a few seconds, turn ignition on once more and let sit a few seconds. Turn it off and reconnect the IAC after a few seconds. Repeat this three times - or more. This might get the ECU to "learn" the pintle position.
When you turn the ignition off on a Rover the pintle sets itself for the next restart, you'll hear it, makes a quick ratcheting noise. That happens a few seconds after you shut it off so give this method I described a few seconds before disconnecting/reconnecting the IAC. Sometimes this works and most times not so don't be disappointed if it doesn't.

If this doesn't work you'll need to take the truck to a diagnostic machine and have the ECU reset which the IAC's pintle position will be relearned and remembered. It's usually a $50 - $60 connection fee if you go to an independent garage that does Rovers.

Nope, didn't work. But at least the truck does run now well for a little, I think the fuel pump is starting to go south now, it has pressure intermittently and not a constant 30 psi have to cycle the ign switch to build up pressure. But to the plus side while at the pick a part for the ECU found a Rover classic with an OME suspension kit on it , just couldn't pass it up #751 springs up front and #762 springs in the rear with Bilsteins all the way around. Was a good day even it's not driving yet.

Nice find on the suspension! Well, the ECU is holding the previous motor's sensor values so a reset is never a waste. On the fuel pump pressure thing, might be a leaking injector too so don't rule that out. Also the wiring harness to the pump has a short section at the pump and it's been known to pick up corrosion so a looky there might be another to do on the list of fuel pressure. How many miles on the truck?

If it is the pump going south you know you can replace just the pump motor and not the whole enchilada right? I did that and the pickup screen and has been running for over four years without a problem.

124k on the truck just picked it up two weeks ago , don't know a lot of the past history on the truck except for the rad, water pump, thermo stat, master cyl, calipers, rotors rear driveshaft doughnut have been replaced. Talked to a local independent rover mechanic, he's going to make a house call next week to do a reset for me but wants me to fix the fuel issue first. Is the connection your talking about in the pass side wheel well next to the fuel filter? hope it works
Didn't know you could only change out the motor on the fuel pump, but for sure that's the way to go

I do believe that's where it's running. I haven't had any problems there but others throughout my time on the forums have had problems with it. I guess it's a short length with connectors on either end. Pressure should be a little higher than 30 like 34 to be honest. Both fuel filters (pickup and canister on passenger side rear wheel well) can reduce the pressure so either would be worth replacing. The pumps fail for worn brushes.

Pulled the fuel pump, not working just sits and does nothing, were do you get just the motor aspect of the fuel pump? All I have seen is the entire pump for crazy money.

You can snag just the pump and filter from NAPA and any other parts palace, I snagged mine from NAPA.
