Default Hood latch question?

So I pulled my hood cable today and it pulled out of the latch.I assume that I have to try to remove the spring to the latch without damaging my grill.Anyone
in rover land have any tips?

Remove the grill, not a big deal.
Then the latch will be easy to get to.
I have yet to mess with the hood latch.
There are 5 screws that hold the grill on, three on the top, one on each side behind the corner lamps.
Remove the corner lamps, remove those screws, remove the 3 on top of the grill and it will wiggle out.

The issue is the hood is closed.I can't take the grill off or the side pieces without
opening the hood.

Oh, my mistake.
I guess that makes sense if I had thought about it.
Others have had this problem, they used every thing from a screw driver to pliers to pop the hood latch from the outside and then replaced the hood release cable.

I put hood pins in. But the T pull handle is in my cab. I like to take it to a shop and watch their faces when they pull the handle and it comes out in their hand. LOL.
