99 Disco II -- Stuck Hood Latch
Did I see somebody else post about this recently? I cant seem to find the post. This has been happening more lately than I care for. It is rather inconvienent not being able to raise the bonnet. Is it as simple as replacing the cable? Should I use some Lithium Grease on it first? How do I get the hood open if it wont pop when actuating the hood release from the cab? 115k on the truck.
Thanks,

Have someone pull on the hood release while you push down on the hood, or gently hit the hood without denting it.
If you do get it open, try to clean and lube the hood latch. If it work fine your set, if it starts acting up again, you will need to order a new cable assembly from the dealer since yours has probably stretched.

I managed to get it open with a pair of vice grips on the cable. I was changing my ac condensing fan, so while I was there I drilled out those rivets that hold the shield on underneath the hood latch. I lubed it up real good and noticed that at the very end, that plastic nipple type device is broken. I will get a new cable, but for now re-assembled well lubed and without the shield on the bottom. Worse case I can use a screwdriver thru the grill if I have to I think. So can anybody else I guess, so I will fix that sometime soon, but for now am opening it fine. Thanks for the reply.
