Old thread...but I'm gonna yank mine tomorrow. Power steering has eaten through mine, and it looks like a family of squirrels has chewed through it. Ugly.

Mine's been out for about a month now.

I can see no difference in the engine temps...and i run an OBD Bluetooth scanner on an android phone on my dashboard. Kinda **** about temps since the rover is new to me.

I did keep what was left of the original blanket so I could trace or outline it for future use,

yes, I have a problem throwing away stuff!

I've been running mine without the liner for a about 6 months now and there are two strips runninng front to back where the exhaust manifold heat has deteriorated the clear coat/ paint.....now I need to repaint. good paint on the edges, flaking top coat over the exhaust manifolds, good paint over the intake plenum. I would put something back to replace it if i were you guys.....that's if you care about your paint.

Sounds like your vehicle has been painted before, and poorly. Or this is a rare issue with factory painted Rovers.

My liner was removed five years ago, the Disco has spent 13 years in 110+ degree heat in Texas every year, and is dark green. Paint looks brand new.

nope original paint, black, spent 13 years at 110f+ in Southern Nevada. It's the clear coat that is deteriorating. The roof had a small spot on it 2 years ago when I bought it and the hood was perfect. a very short time after i took the liner out the hood started to show signs now it is as described above.....pretty sure it is a factory defect in paint prep between coats or lousy clear coat. Which, if you've been around rovers for a bit you tend to notice the things that could have been done a lot better if they had just given a crap about QC.

It's trash night.

The hood liner, front bumper upper and lowers, front and rear corner pieces went to the curb!

I'm having withdrawals already!
