I can always just draft an 18 wheeler but to me it doesn't really count.

Its possible, he did it and I got 24mpg on a 700 mile trip once..

Spence-I have always wondered it a guy could unplug 2 fuel injectors and turn the V8 into a V6 and add a few mpg.
I dont know if it would work because the other 2 cylinders would be working harder.
The 2 cylinders that are unplugged wouldnt know the difference, the spark plugs would still spark but no fuel would go to them.
I dont know if it would set off a CEL, I dont know if mpg wold increase.
I am happy with my mpg so I will not try it, but I have always wondered.

All the electrical diagrams are in RAVE. There is also a diagram of all the connectors and each pin is identified.

You would also need to somehow keep the valves open during compression stroke to save mpg's. Engines loose most of their efficiency on compression. That's why the atkinson cycle engines used in hybrids get such good mileage over a standard Otto cycle. The battery powered motor mostly brings back the power lost from lower compression.

I looked onto that already. And there was a DAMN good reason not too. Can't quite remember why though.

One thing that was mentioned the fireing pistons would cause uneven wear dealing with crank shaft..

Can't remember the biggest reason though...

I was gonna install a 2-4 cylinder kill
Switch.

Oh, one good reason would be...

You'd be passing unburnt air"oxygen" through exhaust and o2s would read lean and then overfuel.

Yep. The actual multiple displacement engines have collapsible lifters or special rocker arms and cams that keep the unused cylinders from even pulling in any air or fuel.

What you need Spence is a throttle lock. When I drove truck most of the trucks had them, no cruise just throttle lock.
Get going however fast you want, pull a **** and turn it and the throttle stays right there no matter what, uphill, down hill...brakes wouldnt even slow you down.
Tractors use them, the Series I Rovers had them too.
Tractors use them for the PTO.
