Do you even have anywhere on your Disco you can use a hi-lift?

Are you saying it's a harbor freight jack? Even real ones are very dangerous. A cheap knock-off...well, I hope you have a lot of accident and life insurance.

 

Always gonna have haters. I can use it on the front and rear stock bumper. Yes I have tried it. And yes it's a cheap one I'm getting a better one but I know exactly how it works and how to use it safely I have used it plenty of times. Thank you.

 

Of course, to make it a little more difficult to steal, one of the threaded rods could be drilled through and a regular old "master" lock used.

 

Hell, I've used my HF jack For YEARS with no problems! I even jacked up my lifted '83 Suburban with that sucka a few times. Not as purty as a hi-lift, but still gets the job done..........

 

Not a hater at all. But even though you can get it to work, stock bumpers aren't a very secure jacking point for using a hi-lift. Also, since you just bought it, I was just offering a warning.
A lot of people, even people who have used them, don't really realize how dangerous they are. That's how people end up with smashed faces, broken arms, etc.

 

I have had this for a while and thankfully learned how to safely use it while doing body lifts on 4runners

 

I have a high lift also, with no lifting points on the stock truck I keep it to winch. it has come in handy a few times when I go off by myself in the woods.

 

When I got stuck over the July 4th weekend I used my Hi-Lift by using the trailer hithc receiver.
Stuck the jack in there, lifted the truck, put logs under the rear wheels and then lowered the truck and drove out.
Once on solid ground I went back and retrieved the jack and put it back on the roof rack.

I would love to use it as a winch but WOULD HATE carrying chains.

 

I always carry a 10,000lbs recovery strap in the truck and when off roading I also carry air cargo chains rated at 12,000lbs that my dad brought back from the Air Force during Vietnam.
The chains only go in the truck when I load the Hi-Lift so no need to worry about carrying them all the time.
