I didn't have a key fob for my 99 disco, so I bought a used one at a junkyard. Is there a way to program it myself, or do I have to take it to the dealership?

 

I have a similar situation w my 96. I when I got it the batteries were dead in the fob, replaced them but now all the truck does when I push either button the is it locks then unlocks once real quick and then the alarm starts going off until I manualy unlock the drivers door. Somewhere on here I saw something about manualy lock/unlock 3 times to re-set the thing but no luck.

That is how the repair manual says to reprogram for a new remote. I found it easier when I did mine to have a second person, and pop the hood prior to starting the procedure. Have the other person hold the hood switch(along drivers side fender)in the down position, and tell them to let go when you get to the "open hood" part of the sequence.
