Default ignition light ring is always on

I just notice it the other day, but that red light is always on. Never had a problem with electrical vampire before but that can't be normal. can it?

Should come on when you open the door with the interior lights.Haven't heard of this one
before.

I just went to check mine because I had noticed that the other day also. But the light is off right now when I checked. I am going to assume that it should turn off and not stay on all the time.
The difference is that my truck does have electrical problems. I will keep an eye on it this week though.

Just checked mine. Ring is not illuminated. What red light are you talking about?

When illuminated that ring lights up red. That is the "red light" I am talking about, but I couldn't answer for Rock Sing.

I'm skeered of the dark, but I went out anyway and watched mine (97). It follows the dome lights, and when they time out and dim down the ring stays in step with them. So it is controlled by the Multi Function Unit (MFU), which is a plastic box on the back of the fuse panel under the dash.

Default Same Problem

Hi,

I just bought a 97 Disco and I am having the same problem with the red ignition cylinder light staying on all the time. Did you figure out what was going on? I haven't been able to find anything online about this other than your post. I am keen to get this sorted out.

Thanks,

Mark

Default The ghostly red ring of light

My other posts will show all my ignition problems. On my vehicle this light has been on ever since I bought it three months ago. Whether it is an integrated issue with the starting problem I have I do not know.

the ring turns red when you are in park or neutral... or at least thats what mine does. but it only works when the shifter illumination is working, which is not very often.
