What transmission does your truck have? The ignition for automatic transmissions has a couple of extra solenoids on it and is significantly harder to get/ more expensive than the version for the manual transmission.

Yes, someone earlier noted that Lucky 8 sells DI ignition switches for $100. While I haven't checked, I doubt that's a switch for a vehicle with an automatic transmission. The part number for the ignition switch for an automatic is STC1436. The part number for the manual transmission ignition switch is STC1435. Believe me, they are not interchangeable.

Land Rover Manhattan which has opened an eBay Store and is aggressively pricing older parts has the STC1436 (ignition switch for an automatic) listed for $529.90.

Meanwhile, lrparts, which I believe is Justin's eBay Store name, has the switch for a manual transmission truck, STC1435 for just $90 plus $10 for shipping. That's a big difference and it's only been that way since the manual switch was offered by an aftermarket manufacturer (I think it's Allmakes). The automatic is still made by Valeo the OEM.

It is a automatic transmission. I am very sad on how much a new ignition switch is. I am going to see what I do now to try and fix this.

I have had some success finding used units in reasonable condition from dis-assemblers such as Paul and Will. Also on ebay. It is a crap shoot though. There is also a write up around here somewhere about renovating an exiting unit. Check the sticky at the top of the thread list.
