I'm Pretty Sure My Radiator Hose Wasn't Designed This Way

Go to Land Rover Parts & Rover Accessories From Atlantic British | Discovery, Range Rover, LR3, LR2, Defender, Freelander and Land Rover Series Parts & Accessories and order the upper, lower and heater hoses.
They are pricey but they will last you forever.
Go to AutoZone and buy a new thermostat and gasket, in the tech section is the part number for the gasket.
I use a 195*F t-stat.
Replace your hoses, t-stat and flush the system.

Your t-stat has been soaking in coolant for who knows how long and if you put that into a pot and boil it on your stove you run the risk of killing your kids.
Thermostats are cheap, just go buy a new one and be done with it.

Just PLEASE do NOT use a pot that you are going to be cooking with, engine coolant will kill you.

FYI for those that may get a little coolant in their mouth while working on their vehicle. You don't need to freak out, just rinse out.

Actually, glycol diluted to less than 5% glycol and 95% water is no longer considered hazardous to people. At least, in small quantities

I didn't freak out, but I did google how much coolant I could swallow before I had to worry about dying.
