Insatalling Control Arm Bushings
I will be doing my control arm bushings soon, and since I will be removing the cotrol arm and having a shop press the old out/new in, I want to do both arms in one shot.
If I put the front on jackstands, chock both back wheels front and back, will it be safe to remove both control arms at the same time?

If you have jackstands thatllvgo the whole way to the frame. As soon as you take the control arms off the front axle will have nothing but the shocks and springs supporting it. I recomend one side at a time so it wont throw your alignment off either
A tall jack stand under both chassis side rails.
Two short jack stands under the axle.
Depending on what the shop is charging, now might be a good time to justify buying a 12 ton press.

It's more, I'm sure, than what you'll be paying the shop, but you'll use it for a lot of other things too, like the trailing arm bushings which should be replaced too.
Things like: Installing hub bearings, R&R u-joints, R&R idler pulley bearing, R&R panhard rod bushings (should be done now too)....you get the idea.

Yea, i contemplated buying my own press, and really should. Seems like everything I get done is $20. The panhard bushings were already done($20), had them do the swivel bearings and bushings in the swivel *****($20), u-joints($20 a shaft). Cheated on the wheel bearings and used a drift to tap out the races and tap new ones in. I coulda just about paid for one by now. If only my nearest harbor freight wasn't an hr away.

I've heard in extreme circumstances, you can remove bushings without a press by cutting or burning the rubber center out, then use a hacksaw blade to cut through the outer ring of the old bushing, but at $20/arm, I'll gladly pay to miss all that fun
I need this done as well . Take it to any shop?
Why bother with jackstands at all???? Leave the tires on and chock all the wheels. It won't go anywhere, trust me.
Get a quote from a shop. As mentioned, it might be a better investment to buy a Harbor Freight press.
