Default Interior light issue

1994 Discovery
So my dome light wont turn on when switched to ON. When left in the middle it turns on and off when the doors open and close. Even dims out appropriately. Any ideas?

Ground lead on switch at dome light. The fades out means your multifunction unit is OK.

In theory replacing the light would solve this problem then?

If it is doing above, then bulb is OK. The mechanical dome light switch also applies a ground to the bulb in the "ON" position, this will use a short black wire from the switch to a bolt on the metal of the truck. If switch is bad or wire is broken, the "ON" position won't work.
