Default Fluids and What Nots

Hey all, I just had a few questions on what fluids I should use to change in my 5spd tranny, diffs, and engine oil as I seem to be "missing" about a half a quart. For oil changes I typically use 10/40 with a quart of heavy duty lucas oil stabilizer which used to prevent the "missing" oil from occuring. Landy has approximately 220,990 miles on it. Also I just wanted to mention how amazing this forum becaue all the information and help is just plain great and I am happy to be a part of it and even more so to be a Landy enthusiast. Thanks!!

Transmission & Power Steering: ATF Dexron IID, IIE, III, or VI
The latter are backwards compatible.

Differential & Transfer Case: 80w-90 gear oil, or 85w-140 to reduce noise
Synthetics are ok too but expensive if the oil is changed regularly.

Engine: Rotella 5w-40 in cold climates, 15w-40 in warm climates

Forget the snake oil Lucas crappy crap crap stuff crap, just use a good oil, like Shell Rotella.
If you need to add some oil so what? Who cares? Just add oil, magic in a bottle wont fix anything.

Ok thanks for the info. I plan on switching to Rotella on the next oil change. Do I need to add an additive to the diffs when I change the oil? While I'am on the topic of diffs, I have an issue with both diffs leaking. The rear seems to have alot of preassure in it when I loosen the either plug. Seems to be causing the seal to leak on the right rear even though it has been freshly sealed not by me however. Anythoughts??

No additive. Disconnect the breather tubes and clean both the line and nipple out.

Axle breather tube might be clogged. Pretty common on these trucks.

If you need a additive for anything then you seriously need to rethink what fluids you are using.
