Just bought a land rover discovery 1998
Hey guys i purchased a 1998 discovery with 130,000 miles on it i drove it for a total of 20 miles today did not notice anything out of the ordinary engine wise the seats dont move but i have read alot on this forum today and have seen multiple threads on solutions i will try but the questions i have are i am a california driver so theres warm days and cool days free ways and mountains what are things i should be aware of or expect also advice on proper fluids when to change them i also want to know if the differential shifter should be on low or high or neutral while driving city or freeway or does it not matter cause currently it is in the back left posistion (toward passanger seat) and advice or heads up would be appreciated
Download the RAVE, a factory set of shop and owner manuals for your truck. Link below. Shifter should be in high. In our tech area is a list of high miles maintenance items to take care of to catch up what previous owner may have missed. If you have a 1998, it is a Discovery I. One page from manual attached.
wow thank you for the speedy reply this forum seems pretty awesome and i was driving around that 20 miles in the low gear is that bad on the differentials something i should worry about i didnt go above 50 mph
ok i am seeming to have trouble finding the tech area or a checklist of things to go over
also i think mine might be a 50th aniversary not that i think it matters but it has a 50th aniversary sticker on the window
