Kick down cable question?
To my fellow land rover nuts
I have been adjusting the kick down cable on my 1997 disco and wanted your opinion. My rig has 129000 miles on it and shows its age a bit.
Can these kick down cables get stretched over time? The rave manual calls for a
1mm gap between the crimped piece on the wire and the threads. At this setting i feel like my rover is shifting a little early. Mostly 1st to second and 4th to OD. I set the gap now to about 3mm and it gives a higher rpm for the shift , but it does not even look close to what the manual recommends. If the wires do stretch I figure the pressed wire fitting would be an invalid reference. Any Ideas? I know I'm over thinking this.
