Had a bulb out and took off the license plate light fixture and it was corroded to nothing - other working fine

question - anyone know how two wires attach to a new one ? I think one wire is hot that is a slide type and the other is a ground ? how does the ground attach ?

Could you post a photo of how yours is broken? Yes two wires, current passes from one, through the bulb, out the other.
Direction really shouldn't matter.

 

I can tell you the pattern part from British Atlantic is not a quality party and if you get a chance and need one look for an original at a breakers yard
