UK Defender license plate holder
Hello all,
I recently brought a 1990 Defender home to the US from the UK, where I was living. It still has my British plates on it and I have now registered it here in NH, but I'm having a hard time finding a bracket for the plates, i.e. that I can mount on the existing British/European holes and then fix a US plate to it. Any suggestions?
Thank you

Apparently there is no such conversion bracket, and no one had any ideas (to include several mechanics), so here is what I came up with.
For the front license plate, I bought a set of industrial strength magnets such as these: They have bolts on them so that you can stick the magnets to the front bumper and then place the US license plate over the bolts.
For the rear, I naturally thought I could use the same magnet & bolt setup, but alas, no. There is only aluminum (I assume) paneling there, so the magnets won't attach. I was about to accept defeat and tape the license plate inside the rear window when I had an epiphany: tape! I had some heavy duty 3M double-sided tape ( ), so I used that to attach the US plate where the British plate had been. It's been on there a few weeks now and is not going anywhere.
Admittedly, I would have preferred some way to bolt the new, US plate onto the frame, but when it became clear that wasn't option, these are pretty good alternatives. I hope this helps someone down the line.
