Default Lift & Insurance

This last time i went to re-add the truck to the insurance.. I saw something new, and had to confirm that my truck had no extra lifts or other modifications to it............

Did a law change somewhere, or has this always been the case and I just missed it previously? Curious if there is an impact on the insurance just because you install a lift in your truck.

it is in the boilerplate of almost every insurance policy, it usually says something about modifications for off-road use or racing.

Considering how tall the pickup trucks are near me, I'd be surprised if lots of companies don't think about that. It is probably in the fine print somewhere, so they can charge more or deny claims, or both. Each state's rules can vary. A 16 year old kid with 400 miles experience and a trucked jacked way up is a whole different risk than someone like Spike, with millions of miles in all kinds of rigs.

its to deny claims, and it only makes sense. Your insurance company is insuring you to use you vehicle for transportation not entertainment.
You see these clowns on u-tube rolling their Rubicon's, there insurance isn't going to pay that claim. They are using their vehicle for sport/entertainment that is not what your company insured you for, they insured you for transportation.

Hmmm, weird. I have two lifted D1's and my insurance guy has never asked if it's lifted. And I've even been in his office asking about extra insurance for off road modifications and he didn't ask.

the reason peoples agent never ask question like that is they don't want to know.
it will be between you and your insurance company when its claim time, not your agent.
An agents job is to sell policies, the adjusters job is to approve or deny claims.

sometimes insurance companies ask about mods because they sometimes offer coverage for that. Instead of wrecking a trail rig and only getting what the truck cost you can now sometimes get what the truck cost plus any mods that had been done

My brother had a semi built mazda mx-6. Insurance would cover the cost of the modifications in a situation where it was totaled...he had receipts for like 8k worth of **** on the car.

PS. I hate that cursing gets **** out on here! I'm stuck it dweb and pirate mode. If the stars offend any of you get ****ed!
