What about the shocks? From what I read, the pin has it's faults and can break (show me something that can't break) but they are pretty good anyways eh?
Like discussed the weak link of all direct swap shocks are the pins. I dont see much else breaking unless the shock just wears out. If you're gonna spend the $$ on OME shocks why not get Fox 2.0 Emulsions? You can get the valving set to whatever you want and they are loop to loop which will require extra mouting but the piece of mind is worth it. Plus you can pick whatever size you want. You can also get blistein 7100's in a good verity or Fox remote res like I have in the rear.

I run 10's on the front of my truck

and 12" remote res on the rear - this pic also shows the towers I have in the front now.

I should mention I put this stuff to the test and beat on it pretty hard.

Off Road Warehouse - Shocks Fox Shocks O.E. Applications Land Rover Fox Shocks Rear Fox Racing Shock with Piggy Back Reservoir and 8 position Compression Damping Adjuster. Fox Rear Shock #980-24-612-A

Rear shocks with 0-1" lift. These are a direct bolt in replacement. No mods necessary, but useless if you go with a 2" or greater lift. And at $270 each....probably really great but they are cost prohibitive unless your Disco is already mechanically sound and now you have spare change. Oh, and these are adjustable.

Non-adjustable. For $200 each.

No remote reservoir. But down to $166 each.

If you know what length you want/need, then these are the ones you'd get...
Off Road Warehouse - Shocks Fox Shocks 2.0 Fox Non Coil-Over Remote Reservoir Shocks

Lesson here, if you want Fox, you're gonna drop $800+ for the lot.

Nah emulsions are cheaper. Plus mounts and towers you can use d2s if you mod them. Disco mike said you get what you pay for

0-1" lift?! Adjustable non adjustable WTF are you talking about? You can valve and revalve all fox shocks they are rebuildable....

$140 per corner http://lucky8llc.com/Products.aspx?ProductID=3037 $50 more per shock than emus?

Long and short of it is the TF springs and shocks is a great place to start. Unless you have been wheeling for years and know exactly what you want go with the TF. Everybody has their truck set up differently and everybody's truck will end up different. You may be fine with the TF setup for the life of your Disco. Or you may wheel it for a year or two and decide you want a bigger tire, or more travel, or cones, or taller springs.
If you want the best advice tell us what you want to be able to do with the truck, what your end goal is. Then we can direct you that way.

You can switch to Loop/eye shocks for under $100, I did it for $10. Buy stock D2 sjocker towers, make of buy from and rear lower eye shock mounts. I got my D2 towers for $35 shipped. Sold the rubber retaining rings for $25. And made my own lower eye mounts. Super easy.

That pretty much sums it right there...

BTW. I found out yesterday, an old friend fully airbag'd is D2. Lets just say, it is set up for city use...only. To each their own, just do your own research and make your own decision, based on your needs.

Exactly, I'd love to have some fox shocks (haha that rhymed) but like I said I don't have the dough to drop. Yeah they may do the job and at "only" $50 each that's $200 more that I could have bough my HD track rod and Drag link. Yeah you have to pay to play with cars but some don't play as hard as others and ome or TF might just be enough for whatever certain people want to do.

So I believe it's safe to say:

Terrafirma Shocks and Springs: BUDGET FRIENDLY
Good for the new vehicle, better than stock shocks and springs, stick bigger tires under and to get some good off roading ability.

Old Man Emu & RTE: MOST POPULAR
Tried and true, need an upgrade and can shell out, get these

Fox & others: STAFF PICK
If you got the dough, get these for your off-road crusading needs

Is that fair enough?

I'd take the TF +2" shocks over the OME shocks any day of the week.
Did your read my previous post, #46??????
