Default To Lift or not to lift....that is the question

Alright everyone, I need some direction, advice, ideas , whatever about the some next steps to take.
I am at a crossroad where I need to make some decisions about tires and suspension. In my mind, I have it all planed out what to do, but due to resources , time, and just plan necessity are changing it.
First of all, I need tires and shocks bad. All shocks are completely worthless and rattling around. The tires are not much better, but they hold air and roll for now.
I know I would like to lift this thing 2" and have the larger tires, so I was thinking that I could kill two birds with one stone, or so I thought.....
Buying a lift kit will provide me with some shocks, and then I could get the right size tires and call it good. But does it end there?
Doing some digging around , I have seen some post about having to change out the prop shafts , and then you have to deal with the castor issues caused by the lift.
I am sure some of you are thinking "dude, get your priorities straight" and well, that's what I am trying to do.
Do I buy some cheap stock shocks, some cheap tires, start looking for some D2 prop shafts, and save up for the lift and radius arms and all that stuff for a later time?

I went through this same thought process after selling my RRC. It had a total of about 3.5 lift. When I got the disco I wasn't sure how to go about it.

I wound up doing a 2" med lift. Most people would say if you do 2"and under you don't have to extend brake lines or have major vibration issues. So be aware a HD 2" lift will lift you closer to 3" if you don't have a lot of wieght on the truck like bumpers/winch or a rack.

However I have lifted 4 Discos now all at the 2" level...and all have had vibration issues with all of them. Even this one with the med duty and an ARB Bumper and full roof rack. So I swapped to a D2 shaft and it fixed the issue.

I run 235/85 KO2 AT 10 ply and I couldn't be happier. I have a little rub at full flex in the rear on the back side of the wheel arch.

I also have both my sway bars connected. When I ran a HD lift on my other truck I deleted both sway bars.

If I were you I'd keep it simple. 2" lift with 235/85. You'll be really happy.

Shiftonthefly, what lift springs did you install?
I have OME springs on my '96 along with the yellow/blue Bilstein shocks. I still have the sways and stock brake lines. I run 235/85/16 Toyo AT tires. I usually keep it under 70 but have occasionally gotten up to 80.
No vibes at all.

I'd have to dig out the part numbers. When I have em I'll post em. They were a med duty OME lift. I'm not very impressed with the OME shocks. I was running 70-80mph on my recent trip to Utah last weekend. Smooth as butter. But the trip before was lots of vibration. Both shafts had new ujoints.

If you're gonna do a suspension upgrade (stock replacement or upgrade), check all your bushings and replace them.

I did the larger tires (245/75r16) and a 2" OME Medium lift kit upgrade... forgot to do the bushings, and was kicking myself afterwards.

Just my $0.02 and experience.

Yeah, I am already planning on that. I have started to compile a list of parts that I need to replace.
I am going to go ahead and replace all wheel bearing, rod ends, check preload on swivel pins, replace panhard bushings, and any others I come across.
I am probably going to get a poly bushing kit and start with that and go from there.
Thanks
