Default Lights Install

Finally got to do something I can enjoy instead of repairs! She got a good bath today and 8" lights on front. Next gonna keep eye out for roof rack.

Wifey was happy I got it running again!

Those are some big lights! Should throw down some serious lightage on a dark night!

I was thinking of mounting some extra lights like that, but figured I don't want anything blocking the radiator, since these things seem to have a hard enough time as it is keeping cool. So I'm looking at the LED light bar on the roof basket idea, with a single-row 20" bar on the back, and a double-row 40" bar on the front. Found some PIAA mounting brackets that should work nicely, but the show stopper for now is routing the wires. I'm not going to do it, so I have this shop that I've used, and I'm going to talk with him and see what he thinks.

And here in VA, I don't think they've gotten smart enough (yet) to regulate light bars. I'm pretty sure that if you have auxiliary lights mounted above the headlights, they have to be kept covered unless you're off-road. Ones like yours I think can be left uncovered. So lights bars up on a roof basket should be good as is.

I'm sure VA & PA are about the same. Lights above 40" need to be on a separate switch & covered while on public roads. No regulation on auxiliary lights at or below that level but cannot be part of the drive lights & need to be on a separate switch ad well. I use my safari lights when cutting thru the National forest around here and turn them off at any town limits.

My wife got these off ebay. I am going to mount the light bar on the roof rack once I get it installed. I saw where somebody ran the wires down the pillar instead of drilling holes through the roof. I thought it looked pretty good and I sure don't need another leak!

Holy crap I didnt pick up on that. Why would someone want a Range Rover sticker on a discovery? I'm going to have to ask him.
