Question lights won't turn off

Hello all. I haven't posted in a while, as I haven't had problems I couldn't figure out for close to a year. Thanks to Disco Mike for help in figuring my last problem. Had all the suspension bushings replaced and it's super solid.

Tonight my wife ran up to the store and when she went to turn the lights off, they wouldn't turn off. All the dash lights, headlights and tail lights are stuck on. I would think it's the switch, but the headlights are really dim, and the radio switched on the weather mode and won't switch off.

I've never seen it do this, but a few months back, the headlights would go dim like that, but I toggled back and forth between high and low beams and they would come right back on. Haven't seen it do that in some time. But now this. I disconnected it from the battery and put the conacts back on--and on come the lights again.

I used the search function, but couldn't find anything quite like this. Anybody had an experience like this? Thanks!

Bad headlight switch.
It is broken in the "on" position.

That would make the headlights dim and the radio not work right?

The guy at DAP said it sounds like a ground is off, and causing backfeed into the fuse box, since the fuse box is the only thing that the radio and the headlights have in common.
There is a little moisture in the left headlight, so I'm gonna unplug it and see what happens.

When you say the headlights are going really dim, are you sure its not the city lights you're seeing on? There is a seperate small bulb in the headlight housing that looks like a really dim headlight. When you turn the headlight switch one turn, the city lights(in the headlight housing) comes on, so do the dash and tail lights, and illuminates the radio. I am betting a headlight switch also. But, who knows. I have seen some extremely odd electrical issues on rovers.

Yeah. It's the city lights. The regular lights are not working. Thanks for the heads up. It must be the switch. Still not sure though. Why would the radio act crazy? It asked for the code today since I had the battery unhooked and I haven't had the chance to put it in yet, so I'm not sure what's up with that now. It's 10 degrees outside. Brrrr.

Are the switches hard to replace?

how about rusted up headlight bulb connectors causing a dim headlight.

I am in agreement on the switch. City lights make it look dim. bet if you turn on the key, the headlights will come on full...

Oh, and you have to push the wb button again to get it out of weather mode.. can't just hit the band button...
